Normally students in elite schools have the opportunity to take up more subjects compared to students from neighbouring schools. Such subjects are like 3rd languages, music and performing arts. All these mostly differentiate elite schools from neighbouring schools.

I agree with Jiaqun. Elite school students are deemed to be smarter, so they have the capability to take up more subjects than neighbourhood students. They also have more choices on the variety of subjects they take.
However, a neighbourhood school student may not be given the chance to take up more subjects even though he can cope with them.
Thus, elite school students get the opportunity to learn more knowledge than neighbourhood school students.
